The new emission standard
1. Juli 2009 | Von atsil2 | Kategorie:English Live Green n CleanMay 19, 2009 was a great day for the greens in America. Barak Obama has announced a brand new national auto emission standard in effect, which will force all cars to get an average of 14.7 kilometers per liter, when sold in 2016. perhaps here in Europe this does not sound as much improvement, but considering the difference in fuel consumption between the American cars and the rest of the world cars, this will turn out to be a standard that will do more good then bad.
According to senior administration officials, this act would save 1.8 billion barrels of oil through 2016 and would be the environmental equivalent of taking 177 million cars off the road.
Obama was joined by heads of industry like the CEOs of GM and Ford, who are getting billions of dollars, and now are asked to show something in return. Actually, the most intriguing green car that will come from GM, can revolutionize the CO2 emissions in the states.
The new Chevy Volt by GM, is a hybrid with an aim: 40 miles electric range that will serve the theory that since most people drive less than 40 miles in a day, they will do most of their driving in electric mode, without burning gas!
If this model becomes a sales hit in th US, it can radically change the pollution in America.

“an average of 14.7 kilometers per liter”
In European standards 6.8 Litres/100 km. Henry Ford’s Detroit born Tin Lizzy consumed soon the same… that’s exactly 101 years ago.
Overwhelming progress.
