One of the most common questions among green wannabes is: what can we do to create a change? There are so many answers to this question, but one we really like is provided by Conservation International.

This amazing organization is dedicated to the preservation of our world. In its own words:

“We believe that the Earth’s natural heritage must be maintained if future generations are to thrive spiritually, culturally, and economically. Our mission is to conserve the Earth’s living heritage – our global biodiversity – and to demonstrate that human societies are able to live harmoniously with nature”.

The wonderful thing is that everyone can help.

With the support of Harrison Ford, the organization set up a website (winner of the Webby Award 2009), through which anyone can purchase symbolically an acre of rainforest, for a price of 15$.

In return, Conservation International will use the money for ecological & preservation projects in the surroundings of the purchased area. In the last 3 years, with the help of others, they have conserved 143 million acres of tropical forest – equivalent of taking 10 million cars off the road!
