Rich in Oil, Poor in Human Rights!

30. Oktober 2006 | Von Josef Reich | Kategorie: Rhetorics

Dear Condolezza Rice,

Didn’t you feel weird, even somehow a little bit dirty, when you were smiling into the camera shaking the hand of Teodore Obiang, whom Human rights organizations place on par with the likes of Uganda’s Idi Amin and Cambodia’s Pol Pot.

I appreciate your intention to bring democracy and human rights to all the human beings on our planet! But what about the misery of the people in Equatorial Guinea? Does unhindered oil-trade of their tyrannical ruler with the US help them to improve their conditions? Is it that you couldn’t care less???
